There’s something quite magical about a Monday evening that doesn’t feel like a Monday evening.
And that’s exactly what happened, when some of our lucky team members recently joined various other partners of the hotel to sip cocktails and savour delectable food at The Phoenicia Malta’s Corporate Summer Party.
Served outdoors under the Mediterranean stars, against a backdrop of an infinity pool and historic bastion walls at the Bastion Pool, Bar & Restaurant, this was an event that not only made the most of the Maltese summertime but showed how luxury hospitality can become a force for good in the world.
Service With a Five-Star Smile
If you’ve ever wondered what sets The Phoenicia Malta apart from other luxury hotels, an evening at its Bastion Pool, Bar & Restaurant will give you all the answers you need.
From the moment our team arrived, it was clear why this iconic hotel continues to be Malta’s (and, increasingly, the world’s) most celebrated hospitality destination. The second-to-none service was, as always, warm and welcoming – the kind of service that makes you feel like you’re not just a guest, but part of something special.

Summer Eating: Reimagined
And then there was the food. Oh, the food!
The sublime buffet had everything and more that you might find at a Mediterranean barbecue, such as freshly grilled, melt-in-the-mouth meats, seafood kebabs lined with swordfish and prawns, colourful salads, fragrant grilled vegetables – the menu goes on.
The scent of the assorted cuisine carried on the summer breeze was enough to make your stomach growl – but that was nothing on the flavours, which didn’t so much make the taste buds sing, as transform them into an entire symphony orchestra in perfect harmony.
And while we could wax lyrical about every course (and trust us, we’re tempted), we simply cannot get over the imqaret ice-cream. Inspired by Malta’s beloved traditional pastry filled with dates, the imqaret, somehow the culinary wizards at The Phoenicia Malta have transformed this local sweet treat into what can only be described as frozen heaven, served on a biscuit crumb and topped with a golden wafer reminiscent of the crispy pastry of the imqaret itself.
Clever, cooling and utterly delicious, this – and the countless other desserts that followed it on trays presented by the immaculate and friendly waiting team – turned out to be an excellent conversation-starter among the guests (once everyone’s collective ‘mmm’ after that first spoonful allowed).
Guests were also treated to a wide selection of signature cocktails, each one clearly crafted with the same attention to detail that defines everything The Phoenicia Malta does. Add to all this the fantastic live music and surprise fireworks – not bad at all for a Monday night!

A Worthy Cause Championed
But here’s where the evening became truly meaningful. While we were all enjoying the five-star spoils, General Manager Robyn Pratt and Yvonne Mallia from Fondazzjoni Sebħ took a moment to share something much more significant than the evening’s entertainment.
Fondazzjoni Sebħ works tirelessly to support children and families facing unimaginable difficulties, and we learnt the heartbreaking story of one such child. Hearing about the foundation’s important work was sobering, certainly, but also incredibly inspiring.
The Power of Purpose-Led Hospitality
Witnessing The Phoenicia Malta seamlessly weave its social responsibility into an impeccably executed networking event was purpose-led hospitality at its finest. When businesses like The Phoenicia Malta use their platform, resources and influence to support causes like Fondazzjoni Sebħ, they’re showing that luxury and social conscience aren’t mutually exclusive – they’re actually perfect partners.
It’s exactly this kind of approach that we love supporting at Finesse Group. We believe that the best businesses are those that both serve their customers beautifully and serve their communities meaningfully.
Why This Matters for Your Business
Your customers want to support businesses that align with their values, and they want to know that their loyalty contributes to something bigger than just profit margins.
The Phoenicia Malta has mastered this balance. They’ve created an environment where guests can indulge in luxury while knowing they’re supporting a business that genuinely cares about its community.
Here are some ways you too can incorporate purpose into your own business approach:
- Identify Your Cause: What issues matter to your team and your community? Find authentic connections, rather than jumping on trending topics.
- Make It Meaningful: Don’t just write a cheque – get involved. The Phoenicia Malta didn’t just donate to Fondazzjoni Sebħ, but used their platform to raise awareness and engage their partners in the conversation, widening reach beyond measure.
- Integrate, Don’t Separate: Purpose shouldn’t be a separate initiative; it should be woven into your business operations and events, just like The Phoenicia Malta did with its Summer Party.
- Tell Your Story: Share your purpose-driven activities authentically. It’s a message worth repeating: people want to know that the businesses they support are making a difference.

A Night to Remember
As our team made their way home (probably still buzzing from that imqaret ice-cream), they carried with them more than just great memories. They’d experienced first-hand how a business can create extraordinary experiences, while staying true to its values and supporting its community.
We’re so proud to work with The Phoenicia Malta – and it’s evenings like this that remind us why we love supporting businesses and voluntary organisations that do good in the world.
Thank you to the hotel team for inviting us to this unforgettable summer evening of five-star food, friends, fireworks and fundraising!
